I live in Brooksville, about an hour north of Tampa. I haven't figured A) how to get the rotary switch out and B) where to get another one. Any ideas or instructions? Thanks. Where are you?
I'm in Gainesville. Home of the Gator Nationals and the U of F. You're about an hour south of me past Ocala.
To replace the rotary selector valve is pretty straight forward. Once you are able to remove the HVAC selector panel. You find the lever and it should be under the lever. I'm surprised it's not on the site somewhere. It's certainly been talked about many times in the past.
This might help shed some light on the subject. https://gbodyforum.com/threads/vacuum-controllers-hvac-controls.71372/#post-667064

Yeah I have a couple pics I bought mine about an hour from where I live, I'm in southeast Pennsylvania and the car came from south Jersey. I'm actually having the same problem with mine, the HVAC system only blows through the defrost vents and the air conditioner currently is not working. It's just got minor problems like that.

The trim piece missing in the pics will be out back on soon. The paint looks a little worse up close in person but it looks pretty good I think.
Nice ride. As they say, a 10' car - like mine! I like the wheels. Old Cragars? I just replaced the door and window rubbers, from Dixie Restorations. Aftermarket are OK. Use black silicone as well as snapping them and screwing them on. Got a nice tight tonneau cover. Only problem is I had to drill and attach a cord to the inside tailgate handle to open it and close the tailgate. Latches are too old to operate smoothly!

If the latches are tight or a bit gummed up from age, you can of course use wd40 or any rust busting spray, but my favorite is a graphite spray for key locks. Every lock, keyhole, and latch I have gets a shot at least once a year, or sometimes more often. It keeps working great even after the liquid carrier for the spray dries. When you use it, carry a rag with you because it is liquid and flows back out of the keyhole. After spraying, operate latch or key about half a dozen times to work it in, then you will be good for several months.

Yeah they're 14 inch Cragar SS wheels in nice shape, and thanks. I do quite like the look but I will probably go with bigger wheels because I want to upgrade to S10 dual piston calipers or maybe Corvette brakes or something. One of the weak points of the car is pretty dismal brakes.

What is on yours American Racing outlaws?

Thanks. I bought it about 8 months. Bought it off Facebook Marketplace unseen, flew up and took a chance and drove it back from NO. Indiana. Drove fine all the way! Yeah, surprised me too! Hey, if it goes the speed limit, I'm fine with that. Still working on the damn A/C control panel. Such is life. Got a picture of yours?

I love it. That's how you go get a car that you want. I drove mine about 200 miles home but dang, you made a road trip out of it.

Yes, American Racing Wheels. They normally come with the dull finish but I had a guy in Tampa polish them. Did a hell of a job! $300. I am impressed. I'm thinking of getting a disc brake kit from the rear. They're about $700+ . I've done rears before, a weekend's work. One thing i wondered, I've seen several with the bumpers painted black and wondered if some came from the factory like that, but on the El Camino Forum, they say no. Have you ever heard that this was factory?

The only black bumpers I have ever seen were painted by the owners. My Caballero and my El Camino both have chrome bumpers.

There was never a RPO for painted bumpers for the Chevy/GMC's. The bumpers would look better painted to match the body or a good dark silver/gray.
