Welcome to the site. Tell me do you find more regal's in Texas than cutlasses? The cutlass dominates over here in so cal(car clubs and junk yard cars). Lucky for me I can use alot of cutlass parts. 😛
X pipes were designed (NASCAR) to pull out the last few horsepower on an individual application basis although they do smooth & mellow the sound in the upper rpm range. Any H or X obsoletes the power idea ie compression waves of a Flowmaster or that type design however they do even with an X or H pipe only maybe to a slightly lesser degree provide that patented flowmaster sound. The turbo Buick crowd does not use the naturally aspirated v6 blocks except for some from the 4.1. Performance wise their is not much bolt on bang for the buck in the naturally aspirated Buick V6. Make sure the car has good gears, open up the intake / exhaust system as you can. Maybe acquire an aluminum 4 barrel intake & carb from a salvage yard Buick 4.1 and tune it in with timeing adjustments from an advance curve kit or adjustable vacume advance canister whichever. Although finding someone to do that for you is a trick in its own.
Thanks for all the advice guys. Here are a few responses and comments for those who replied.
First of all you are right about this site being helpful unlike other forums. I am on another forum basically for parts but people there are haters, overprotective of thier style, when in reality they should be happy people are interested and asking questions.
I am located in Kileen Tx, north of Austin.
Yes, there are more Cutlass than Regals down here in Texas. It's rare to see either now a days though. Even in the junkyards they are very hard to come around.
As far as engine...believe it or not I am just happy I have a Gbody. I was not alive in the 60'sor 70's so I have no connection to those type of cars. I learned to drive in an 85 Cutlass so I have a lot of memories connected to this style.
welcome and nice clean cutlass....you can't find them up here like that unless they are going for some crazy prize. You might want to check out the body bushing. On the drivers side the drivers door and front fender's gap seems to get larger as it goes up to the top where they meet and that's an indication that the bushings are not doing their job...it might just be the angle of the shot though
Nice clean car! Glad to see another one not all butchered up. Hope you can make it to some of the local cruise-in's down in Cedar Park on Saturday nights. Would love to see yours parked by mine!
Actually it's the angle the picture was taken from. I am lucky as my doors close as if the car was new; no sagging, no gaps, no needing to slam to close correctly. 😀
