I just put a Flowmaster 40 series on my car and it sounds exactly the same as the stock one. Not even a difference. He clamps it on and pulls it out of the garage not even a difference. Just spent $80 to get in done for nothing..

Guess I'll have to remove the cat.

I just wanted to do this and be done with the 307 but apparently I can't do that.

Between your crossover pipe the stock manifolds utilize and you cat, i doubt the muffler was doing much "muffling" to begin with. Most of your sound could be unleashed with changes to your cat with either a straight pipe or a more free flowing cat; or getting rid of the crossover pipe and re-doing your entire exhaust setup

Gonna try to get my cat removed. Illegal in NY, but if I can't gonna guess I'm gonna have to get a better one or a new exhaust set up, like you said.

Trying to sneak around emissions can be more of a headache than it is worth

Exactly what happened to me.
If you can't get the cat removed, you could try a high-flow converter.

Yeah which is a annoying. I'm gonna get it inspected and see if there's a place that will do it in the future so I don't have to worry about it. I just spent this money of the muffler and it's the same damn thing lol so that's my next thing. Do they make cats that don't really effect sound and still do their thing?

Know what brand? And I did get a new tailpipe because mine was in really bad shape and now it's sturdy. The muffler is clamped not welded.

If I go near the tailpipe I hear a little something and I hear just a little when I really get on my pedal.

As an ex exhaust tech for 5 years im pretty sure that no shop will just remove a cat and not put one back on. It is a federal law that is punishable up to 5 years and a $50.000 fine. If you do it your self with a straight pipe then they cant do sh*t, but it will not pass a visual emissions check, However you could hollow it out and put it back in 😀 . Be sure to keep it and scrap it as it is worth a few bucks, they have gold, iridium, and platinum in there. A different cat will change it some, but headers and true duals is the best way to get that sound your looking for.
