I put an AC Delco reman starter in my car along with my new engine. It worked great when it did, but it stopped working now. I've only started the car maybe 20 times.... Now, when I try to start the car, it just clicks as if the battery is dead, however, the battery is fully charged and it's a good battery. I can hear the solonoid clicking very fast and loud, so theres lots of power there. Do you think my solonoid is just a bad solonoid?

I would check the wires. Make sure there tight and not shorting anywhere. I myself have never had luck with reman starters but good luck.

Hi does this happen when the engine is worm or cold? Do u have headers on the car if so the header might be heating up the starter and binding it on tell is cools down.Or like 83montess said the wires and might be even the bolts might be loose and not getting a ground.

I get mine redone locally with warrenty no less.

. And never had issue with any reman starter from parts store (if actually worked out of box that is .) other than they don't last but couple years .

But sounds like wire issue would be good place to start . Ac delco would have better inspections that the others 1 would think

Thanks guys, I had breifly checked my wiring and it all appeared to be fine, so I ordered another starter and replaced it, and now it works.

u never kno what ur going to get ive bought parts new that never worked its always a gamble

So, it's been less than a month and I'm having the same problem with this starter now. So I'm convinced it's because of my headers. I've read how to use a "remote solonoid" such as the one decribed here
http://www.maliburacing.com/starter_solenoid.html
The question I have is...is this really going to solve my issue? Or do you think My current solonoid is burned out so I'll need to replace it first? And if I replace it, is it going to still have the same issue?

Do you have a heat shield over your starter? it is a cheap part and could save you the problem of having a remote solonoid. I have a 355 with vortec heads and headers too and in the 10 years I have had the headers I have never burned up a starter.
