Old engine out, getting it ready for the new one.

Finally got my motor out of the machine shop and into my friends garage for assembly. After a long 8 months, I got a fully blueprinted 307 for my Hurst/Olds. Can't wait until it goes in then to deal with all the California emissions stuff.

the car looks nice, do you have any plans on bring it back to an original paint scheme? do you have any pictures of the interior or any other plans for the car after the engine?

Yeah, I do plan on bringing it back to the original paint scheme. For now that paint is decent. The interior is still pretty much stock and I plan on keeping it mostly stock aside from a few stereo upgrades Some of my plans are driving it for sure, bought the car not running. Definitely need to restore the t-top weather stripping and sheet metal. I don't have too many plans for it, just wanna keep it nice n clean and a good driver. I'm also hoping the transmission is in good shape, it got new seals and detailed so it's ready to be installed. If not then that will be my next job. The last two photos are from when I initially got the car, since then I have replaced the console with one in better shape and replaced the lid with a vinyl correct one. I also re-dyed and painted the steering wheel, and console parts to clean it up for now, thanks to Gbodyparts.com for making a great Maple Red dye that matched dead on. That makes me want to take some more pictures since I've all that work.

sweet sounds looks like you are moving right along with the car. I bought my 84 H/O not running as well it took a little time and some elbow grease but it now turns some heads🙂 and doesn't run half bad but I had to do away with the 307... a olds 455 just seemed a little more fun :lol:

Nice car, I saw some of the pics you posted on the restore. I do agree that a 455 would be more fun, but I cant do that legally here in California, smog laws are a b*tch. My 307 is gonna be a little more hoped up than the stock version and still pass smog, hopefully. That way I can register it and insure then enjoy it!

Well after a long wait the motor is done and in the car. Now its just a matter of connecting all the connections and vacuum lines and hopefully it will run good and pass emissions. Plus, I was able to confirm all the numbers matched, engine and transmission!
