I am an old car guy and once owned a 1971 Grand Prix SJ with a 455. I miss that car so much that I just picked up a 1986 Grand Prix 3.8 V6 to play with. It is like the story about the little old lady from Pasadena. The Grand Prix was owned by a little old lady close by and she never drove it. Then it sat up for six years with nobody driving it. Anyway I picked it up and it has 26,511 original miles on it. It has all of the maintenance records in the glove box. It even still has the little GM package of parts to mount the front license plate on the front and sitting on the original rotten tires. Sadly the paint looks like crap and most of the weatherstriping is dry rotted. As far as plans for the car it will look stock but I may go to a console and bucket seats and will be building an L31 Vortec, boared 30 over and most likely an LT4 hot cam. I already bought a L31 from a wreck. I just finished putting a '68 350 SBC in a Nissan 300ZX so this should be much easier.

Sounds like a solid start, keep us posted on the progress 8)

Luckily I have pull-a-parts everywhere down here and I'm only twenty minutes from Brian over at gbodyparts.com home store. Parts should not be a problem. Come to think of it I need to get over to Gbody and look around...............

welcome and that will be an interesting project....I had a 74 SJ but it had the 400 in it and now it's an 86 I play with ....

The original 3.8 runs like a swiss watch. I hate to scrap it. The 200 transmission is another thing though. I hear they were junk new. I have spent a few nights reading the threads here, it is amazing the amount of information that is contained.

Welcome aboard.
