If it's a carbureted turbo with a rough body, it's really only worth a couple hundred bucks. The carbureted turbos suffered much like the GM diesels of thier time did. A lot of owner lack of understanding on a design that wasn't all that great to begin with. I was around on the planet when these engines were being used, and you'll find a lot of kids who will try to say different. Pretty much any un-rebuilt turbo engine you are going to find that hasn't been babied is going to be totally whipped, and they are somewhat complex and expensive to put back in good working order, and not really worth the small amount of bang you get for the big bucks. The EFI turbos are much better, yet still a complex item. Unless a turbo G body was a #1 or 2 show car that you could get cheap, or just REALLY have a hankering to work on a turbo G body, I would walk away from them, the same way I would any GM diesel car.
