My estimation was they didn't want to invest in the silver and tape lines, etc. Which is a shame because the paint looks good, at least in the pics. Maybe they couldn't get a gray set of 442 stripes and didn't want to go with the repros. I'd say you can still fix that. Even with repro stripe kit. Just add them, tape off about 3/16" or so from underneath the bottom stripe on up and paint that lower shiite silver. That's what I would do. But I'd probably have to go find the rest of an NOS gray stripe kit. I only have a partial.As already mentioned, It's a nice car for the money. I like the clean, factory stock interior but I don't understand why anyone would re paint a 442 and not make it look factory stock with the gold stripe package and decals. That is what made the 442 and H/O cars stand out.
