I saw this on the FaceSpace. As usual the discussion was pretty stupid... But, assuming it's not a doctored picture, it would look like they had taken the safety "burst disk" out and put a plug in instead. It's possible to have compressed gas bottles fail even if the safety devices are working, but it's so rare that it's almost never something that happens. Hopefully not a repost too.

Probably heated it with a propane torch too. Because that's what aluminum likes.

You gotta be careful if you do that.

But I could see one of those Chinesium bottle heater blankets going straight nuclear... Well, I've seen pictures of them burned/melted, so I know they do.

Not idea what he had done in this case, or what abuse the bottle had been through in the past, other than very clearly plugging the port for the burst disk.

Saw that too, wonder if the person was in the car to Darwin Award themselves.
I doubt it, I didn't see any bodily fluids scattered or splattered.

you'll have to excuse my ignorance on the subject but why would someone remove that failsafe?

From personal experiances, a good blast leaves no wet messes.
I looked inside the car, not the driver's underwear.

(I've heard of your experiences.)

Because they didn't know what they were doing - unfortunately, I meet that criteria.

I heard they weren't killed, but I don't know. At the very least their ears would be ringing I'd think. The car didn't contain the pressure very well, so that probably made it better than it could have been.
