Sorry for the dumb question but when I start my car my oil pressure gauge marks very low then after bout 30 secs it zeros out and stays that way the whole time the car is on. This is not new, its been this way for a few months. I've already driven 500-600 miles with no problem. Is the a bad thing, is it a faulty gauge maybe since car is running fine???

Put a mechanical gauge on it and make sure. You can get one from autozone for about $15 or so. I keep a Sunpro gauge in my toolbox for such occasions. Ain't no way I would continue driving a car with a 0psi reading on the gauge.

Is your oil topped off? Is your oil pressure line mechaNical? If so check if there is a kink in the line. As mentioned above it is cheap insurance to have the gauge replaced if faulty. Or it could be a bad pressure sensor.

Worst case is your oil pump is bad. I would go through the trouble shooting before Continuing to drive to be on the safe side.

What does it mean when there's zero oil pressure? That no oil is circulating?? If that were accurate my motor would have gone out a long time ago, correct?? Since it hasnt, it prolly is a faulty gauge........i'm hoping.

if you had no oil pressure your valves would be clacking so loud you'd know there was an oil pressure problem
