For some reason Im not getting any spark or fuel. I installed brand new fuel lines because I thouhgt that was the problem. Once again while trying to start it just turns and turns. I installed all new wires, rotor and cap. Im not getting any fuel from the pump at all. i have a clear fuel filter and im not getting anything. this is all after puttin ina new cam.please help.

You sure you're not getting any spark either? Did you check that? Sounds to me like just a fuel delivery problem, and if it was just a result of a cam swap, it could be the issue itself (wrong cam for the engine? what are the cam specs? also what engine size is it etc..). I'm assuming it's the mechanical fuel pump (you don't have an electric fuel pump) which is driven by the camshaft, which is why I'm thinking that's the problem.

Some fuel lines don't run downhill to the pump and need a bit of coaxing to start flowing. I find the G-bodys bad for this. I just did a pump and had no fuel flow. I jacked up the rear end as high as I could and that did it, the fuel made it to the pump. Sometimes it's so bad that I've used an outboard motor gas tank running to the fuel pump to get the motor started, then hook up the line from the tank and the running motor sucks hard enough to get fuel flow.

Its a Comp Cams Thumpr Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 279/297, Lift .479/.465. Just tried 2 brand new mech. f pumps. Nothing. I dumped fuel in the carb and once agin. Nothing. This has been a prob since January.

Does it not even fire when you pour a little fuel down the carb?
Are the valves lashed correctly?
Fuel pump pushrod installed?
Fuel lines in the correct order (had an issue with this myself once)?
Getting suction/pressure from the pump (can you feel it with your finger)?
Getting spark?

well im no pro at fuel systems by any means. but it sounds like you need to tune in you carb too. new cam has a different fuel ratio. i rebuilt my first carb(the guilded quadra-junk) and i still need to fine tune it. mine will start up after dumpin some gas in the carb, and run like normal. i can drive down the street. but when i go to take off from a stop, it dies. so since i have a similar problem and i know mine is with the carb, i figured id chime in about tunin the carb.

I just rebuilt the car(Holley 600) 2 days ago. How would a carb stop fuel from being pumped out of the fuel pump? This is really bugging me. Im overdue on upgrades and I cant move my car.

i duno partner. i have the same question. it rain fine til one day. then i had to rebuild it. i rebuilt it to the right specs and it ran like s**t. then i took it back apart and adjusted the valve seat a lil and played with it til it ran. i parked the car for a few months cuz of the snowy/icey weather, and tried to start it and now i have the proplem i said before. all i can say is back track everything. i did with all mine. made sure the lines werent clogged, checked the filter, made sure the fuel pump was in working order, and narrowed it down to the carb.

If you are not getting any fuel or spark right after a cam swap, my first question is, Have you turned the motor over to make sure the rotor button is spinning? Trying to confirm that the cam itself is actually rotating.

Might be a good idea to check and make sure you are getting 12volts to the coil. Try running a wire from the battery to the bat connection on the coil and check for spark.
