Hi guys , I'm new to the forum and have some questions I hope that can be answered. I'm restoring a low mile lamp black 88 monte SS . Unfortunately my roof skin is rotted by the drip rails and am trying to locate an nos skin if possible. Anyone have any leads!? Thanks

NOS top skins haven't been available since like, almost forever. I tried getting one for a T-top as a just in case sort of thing, but they weren't available, but the entire hard top skin was. Parts dude said I could get that and cut off what I didn't need. This was back around 1991. I opted not to do the whole skin. So I bought a spare hood instead.

Well, there's was a guy who was selling old Nascar stock car skins a few months back, but, ads deleted since he wasn't a fan of the hecklers. Iirc he had door skins, quarter skins, roofs, maybe something else. Not full panels, just the surface outside skin layer.

But, depending where you're located, maybe someone parting out a car can cut a roof off

It would help greatly to include your location, depending on how serious you are about finding these parts.

There's an '85 SS in the west El Paso pick a part currently. I've seen more than one, over the years, in Albuquerque, Tucson, and El Paso. Amazing what people discard down here.

I played around with the idea of making one a convertible years ago. I took a plastic model car and actually built it to see what it would look like without the top. It looked pretty darned good actually.
