Just before the bankruptcy, they showed the Pontiac G8 ST, which was basically a rebadged Holden Maloo. They even announced that it would go into production and be for sale in the U.S. Then all the $#!+ hit the fan, as we’re all aware.

It would have probably been WAY OVER PRICED like the SSR was anyway. Then they wouldn't sell many and cancel it.

Isn’t that how GM always does things? Make only the last few model years well-built and desirable, over-price them, then cancel them? 😏
Ford, and Plymouth the same with the last T-bird the Blackwood and Prowler. Still no excuse.

One thing I can think of, as a light truck it'll fall under the chicken tax and price would've gone through the roof.
But with Holden been closing doors and production down under they're history anyway.

They only sell badge-engineered stuff nowadays anyway. With the Opel branch being sold to PSA last year, half of that will be gone soon also. I mean, Aussies aren't particular happy with the new Commodore anyway. Going from the RWD 6.2 V8 to a FWD/AWD 2.0/3.6 Insignia/Regal platform that is to be outphased due to it being an old Opel platform won't help GM either.
