not an easy thing to say, but if you got an edelbrach carb, you wouldnt have to worry about it. I fit 1 inch spacer under mine and it still cleared the hood of my regal ( i belive they have the lowest hood.)

Cutlass hood is recessed, regal/gp hood is raised in the middle

pontiacgp- just buy a drop base low profile air cleaner for now, and if it doesn't fit get a mini air cleaner until you decide how to get her to breathe either with the stock hood or with a scoop/cowl.

Another thought is to use a dual plenum air box and set up a CAI on it (k&n sells a nice one). It's not as effective on carbureted engines but it's an option if hood space it tight... and it looks cool

custom...if I have to what'll I'll do is just raise the center of the hood from half way back..the hood I have now has a couple of Ford Turbo Coupe scoops sitting sitting flush with the hood and alot of the strengthening channels in that hood have already been removed so I'll just weld up those openings if need be and cut an opening in the hood near the window for the cold air box..I have another hood if this one doesn't turn out good....and thanks for your suggestions... 🙂

not as drastic but kinda like the hood on the lemans trying to chase us down last year in our circle track car....

ya, cutting it is easiest. I'm going to cut mine sometime soon and fab a quick 3 sided scoop for it, paint it black... I might have some fun with my paint job as it's going to be a year or longer before I can get to body work and real paint.

I was thinking about all flat black along the window line up, with a gold stripe (or high gloss black) down the middle... not sure yet

and cheap too, thanks to spray cans :wax:

Looks like you are about to get roughed up. Thats the bad part of being in the front.

actually he did..he couldn't get his nose in deep enough in the corners to take the line so he cut across the grass on turn 3 and drove into us so hard we had to replace part of the floor ...he didn't like the fact he was getting beat by a 15 yo...but the idiot took himself out of the race too...we don't race at that track any longer.... 8)

if you really wanted somethin different, you could cut the entire raised part of the roof and weld/rivet in some long triangle pieces angled downward toward the front end, then set the raised part of the roof on top of it and weld it in. That'd be a sick lookin cowl... like your picture but straight across at the top and angled downward toward the grille. Touch up with some plastic filler...

ooh I could have fun with that car

That would be different but I like to sneak up on people and I really don't need to entice anyone else to wants to race... even with the way my car looks now I get all sorts who think I want to race them...
