So I'm new here (this is actually my second post, but who's counting).

I'm from New Jersey... in 2000, I got a 1982 Pontiac Grand Prix. The tired old 231 in her wouldn't pass inspection in 2003, so I ended up buying a 1985 Grand Prix with the 305, which also wouldn't pass inspection. The 305 was in better condition (the car was from a guy who built Monte Carlos... he threw a 454 in his Monte SS, rebuilt the SS's original 305 and slapped it in my this Grand Prix), so I essentially took the good parts from both cars and built a monster hybrid with the engine of the '85 and most of the rest of the '82.

Here she is:

That's the short version, anyway. I still have the car, it's still my daily driver. I have to get it through inspection in a couple of days, and I'm hoping it'll go (I had to replace the air pump check valve because it rotted out, but assuming everything else works... I leak a little oil, but I should pass, I think).

My brother had an '84 Cutlass and an '87 Regal. Both 231-powered. Nice cars... I'll never understand why he got rid of them for a... Ford Focus. Shudder.

Anyway... yeah. That's my story. I'm constantly working on my Grand Prix -- my roommates accuse me of inventing problems to fix -- and I intend to get at least another three years out of her, after which I plan to take her off the road and do a complete tear-down and rebuilt. That's later, though. In the meantime...

Hi.

AJ

welcome

I try and attend most of the car gatherings in my area that go on during the mid week evenings. I've yet to see another GP. I see loads of Monte carlos, no GPs
You don't say where in jersey your from but hopefully I'll come across that
82/85 GP one night.
