Where is it located and can I just unplug it and see if that makes a difference? If it is the torque converter, where do you guys recommend me getting one from and what other transmissions use the same torque converter?

The plug for lockup is on the side of the transmission. The solenoid is in the pan. They sell them at local part stores.

If it is the problem, unplugging it won't likely have an effect.

I unplugged it and the car drives. It is extremely low on trans fluid and I noticed a leak which seemed to be coming from a trans coolant line. I'll let you guys know what I find. Also, I went to the machine shop and the guy quoted me $2500 for a 383 build with about $900 of it being for the head work. $1700 just for the complet shortblock work. What you guys think? Their prices have went up considerably from 2 years ago.

New parts? Pistons, rods, crank, rings, bearings, oil pump? Scat, Eagle? Forged, h, i, etc? Prices can very depending on parts. Machine work alone on my 400 block was close to $1000.

All new parts and I believe he uses Kelly Brand. Sorry don't have all the specs but on another note, decided to part out the Camaro. Still don't have a for sure answer whether the car has a 350 or 305 because the casting numbers are impossible to see with the motor in the car. However based on the vin, it's a 305 🙁 but either way, going to pull the motor and trans. I've also been thinking about just getting a 5.7 Vortec from a truck dince it will have a roller cam and put a Weiand Sr on it and run the tpi computer. If course cammed, etc..... What's the compression ratio of the later 350 Vortec motors?

Sucks that you bought a 305 by mistake but a good time @ the track is still possible with it using a banks turbo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7wqetv1UQw

I would just get something else if I were you. If you get a vortec just use the stock efi for that or a better mod getting the pfi setup to work on it could be a headache.

Wouldn't it be the same as someone that has a L98 and they just slapped Vortecs on it and a Weiand?
You would still need to get a new chip burned for it to run perfect.
