Has anybody used a 360 offenhauser intake with hei dist. on small block olds.? I heard they dont fit. I hate to have to buy another one , this one come with the motor ,but wasnt installed yet

Is it a single or dual carb set up?

Ive heard that you can do a little grinding on the distributor to make it fit.

Also, are you planning on using the computer on your car? If not, you cant use the distributor from the 307.

I cant use that distributor without comp.? Was told I could.

The advance is controlled by the computer, so it might work, but not good. You would need to get an earlier style HEI with vacuum advance.

"Might work" is optimistic. You'll have a fixed timing. No advance at all without the computer. The car will run like crap. Just get a 1973-1980 Olds HEI with a vac advance canister and you'll be fine. Be sure to tailor the advance curve (springs and vac canister) to match your combo, as many of the mid-70s HEIs had emissions calibrations in the advance curves.

As for the Offy 360, this is really not your best choice for an intake. It's simply a flat plemun with no runner tuning at all. It has all of the low-end weakness of a single plane intake without the raised runner benefits of a Torker or Victor. I'm willing to bet that a Performer RPM beats it at all RPM ranges and a Victor SBO definitely beats it at the top end.

Would I be better off with the stock 83 h/o 307 stock intake than the offy? All I know about motor is 69 350 #5 heads, bored 30 over comp. cam slightly over stock, 670 street avenger carb.

The aluminum A4 intake used on the early 307s is a decent street intake. Used Performers or Performer RPMs are available for under $100.
