Ok guys, I just did an oil change on my 83 Cutlass as I do every 4-5000kms. But this time, once i had just finished, I noticed I had put 10w30 instead of 5w30 in my car. it's about -25 celcius (-15 Farenheit I think) right now.
Do you think i will have any problems? Should I drain it and put 5w30 in?

thanks

Got a block heater???? If so no problem at all. I live in ND where it gets probably about as cold as there and I run 10/30 all year round in my 96 Olds and it's fine

I have no real experience with temperatures that cold as the coldest it gets here is maybe just below freezing a few nights a year. However, I would look at the owner's manual and see what weight is recommended. I don't even think 5W-anything was available when these cars were new, so 10 should be OK.

thanks guys. Yea shes got a block heater and it's plugged in all the time. The manual call for 5w30 when it's this cold but after researching this a little on the net it looks like about the only down side is that it might hurt the gas mileage a fraction.

thanks again

Man if it got that cold around here  , oil would be my last concern.
If it got that cold outside, im wouldnt leave the house. lol

Thats fine. I always run 10-30. And we just had 2 weeks of -30 celcius. Just plug it in under -15-20 and you'll be all good.

I always put 10w-30 in my Cutty. I believe it even says 10w-30 on the fill cap.
