I've been visiting the site for a couple of months now and figured I stop by and say hi.

I'm in my late 50s and have building cars now for the last 40+ years. I'm really not very brand loyal (I currently have a Chevy a Ford and a Dodge project in various stages of construction). I do all my own mechanical and paint but body work is not really my strong point so that mostly gets shipped out.

The last project I finished is an 84 El Camino that was I swapped out the blown up 305 for a 72 LT1, painted and the wife claimed instead of letting me sell :? .

In the process of doing the 84 I bought an 83 El Camino for a parts car and to make a long story short I've decided to build that one for me. I really like putting engines in cars/trucks that the factory never intended to be there, so this one is getting a 500 CI Cadillac, TH400 and Ford 9". I came across a picture of an El Camino with an 80 (?) front end on it and as I really like the body lines of the 78-80 Montes I've picked up 78 Monte Carlo as a donor car for the project (there will have to be some body line re-work but I've talked to one of the local body guys who says it should be doable). I'll post a bit more about in the swap section later.

Anyway that's pretty much who I am, and if I can get it to post here is a picture the the 84 I just got done.

Welcome aboard Mike.

There was an article in either Hot Rod or Car Craft...could be 10+ yrs ago. They installed a 500 cu.in. Caddy in an El Camino. It was quite a brute if I recall. It will be one torquey beast. Good luck!

I actually have a copy of that article which was part of the thing that got the little gears in my head to start to turn
