Olds 260 questions

Anything's possible. My stock 305 kinda does the same thing. No problem spinning tires but definitely no rocket ship either. The 260 was designed to make torque, not horsepower. It's only job was to get the car moving and keep it moving. It really isn't a bad engine if you have realistic expectations for all of it's 105hp.

What's odd is I have really fat 50 series 15 inch tires on this cutlass an it breaks the tires lose extremely easy both of them. I assume its the 260 because it is a 2 barrel car an the exhaust is the size of a straw lol. It breaks the tires loose very easy but has zero acceleration am I missing something could this engine be something else? I did research in 442.com an all the 350's had 4 barrels according to there site.

What rear gearing are you running? A 3.73 or higher might.....might allow a 260 to break them loose

It's all stock was bought as a project the guy told me the motor was locked up an had the radiator yanked out an the fan off I put a bar on the balancer an got the motor to move. It sat for 25 yrs untouched. I had a starter laying around an through it on the motor cranked fine but no fuel had a pump laying around swapped it for the bad one primed the carb an it started right up. It runs rough needs a tune up but I planned a 455 swap so I just got it running for mount it around purposes but of course everytime I move it I gotta break the tires loose does it extremely easy even on asphalt.
