So I was trying to fix my ac no blowing out of the vents and now I have another problem, I seem to have a vacuum leak because my check engine light is coming on and the engine stalls out and dies. I guess I didn't put the vacuum lines back in the right place or maybe one is broken but I'm not sure. Does anybody have a vacuum routing diagram for an 87 olds cutlass? The one on the fan shroud has some things that I'm not sure what thy are.

Having you CE light come on can be from a bunch of different things. Just check the code and see! That's the whole point of the CE light. Did your car just suddenly start stalling on you?

Just go over all your vac lines and check for cracks and make sure there are no open lines or ports sucking air.

Well if you already have the diagram on your shroud, then you have all the info you need to hook everything up. If you ask others for a vacuum diagram, they're just going to show you the same diagram you already have right?

If you still have all the stock junk on your engine and want to keep it ( you don't need 90% of that garbage BTW ), then technically you don't really need to know what all those gizmos are or what they do ( though it would be wise to learn ). You just need to hook everything up the way it is in your diagram and you'll know everything should work fine.

P.S. Aren't all those gizmos labeled as to what they are on your diagram?

I was actually trying to clean up under the hood like you had on your post about retaining the CCc system. After I removed the stuff you said in your post I drove the car and it ran fine no check engine light and no problems. The next morning when I turned to turn it on the check engine light came on and the engine stall out and turn off. So after that I put the antidieseling solenoid back on along with the associated vacuum hoses and the problem went away. Later on that day when I was pulling into my driveway the check engine light came back on and the engine stalled and died. So then I reinstalled everything that I took off and the engine light stayed on but the engine stills is running rough stalling out. So the only thing I can think of is that I either cracked a hose or didn't put something back on right. I understand most of the diagram on the shroud but some parts I don't because some things were already capped off and unplugged before I even messed with it that's why I was wondering if there was a simpler diagram or if anyone already had pics of there engine.

I made a detailed post and when I summited it, it disappeared :roll: . So instead of retyping everything, here it is in a nutshell;

Check your CE light code ( this should've been the first thing you've done already! ), I assure you you don't need 90% of that emissions crap, and take pics of your engine so we can tell you what to remove and what to keep.

So I fixed my problem today. Turns out the vacuum leak was coming from the vacuum nipple on the intake that's right behind the carb. The line that was on it was too small for the nipple so it was stretched to fit over it and that was causing the leak. I installed a check valve with a big end and two small ends and reconnected the hose and now she's running like a champ again. Thanks to everyone for the help.
