went to the u pull r parts in east bethel mn and saw a '70 olds 88 with a 455 still in it. motor is complete with a two barrel intake and "E" heads on it.
hate to see this go to the crusher.
price is $196 plus a $25 core or $156 (no warranty) and $25 core.

Skip the warranty. It's not like they have another to exchange if you find out it's not ready to run. Just consider it a $180 core and a lucky bonus if it's a runner.

For that year 88 Rock Auto doesn't list a long block but they list the 350 at $285. Figure maybe $300-$350 core on a 455 for most rebuilt long blocks.

Tempting

I'll take it!!

The earlier higher compression non J head motors are more dollars if you can find them. Someone grab it.

Well I figured somebody would have beat me to it but this 455 is sitting in the back of my truck. It looked like a new torque converter and possibly rebuilt transmission too.
Not sure if I'm going to put it in my 87 Cutlass or just to piss somebody off put it in a 79 Monte body that I have.

thank you. i almost performed an intervention last sunday. and if no one had grabbed it by this weekend, i would have pulled it myself. i hope you put it to good use. you'll love the torque it puts out.
