My buddy has a summit series Olds Cutlass and he's building a Olds 455 motor to put in her....He found out from the engine builder that the crank in his 455 is shot. I am not a Olds guy and I can't help him on this one...Where is the best place he can get a Olds 455 crank or even a kit? I did reccomend Eagle or Scat to him but I figured I'd ask out here as well... 8)

quite rare to see a shut 455 crank .....

but if ever so , if eagle does ahve a listing ,go for it !

My buddy was told that his crank was already ground once and it spun a bearing so the builder, same guy who built my motor Larry Kirkum from 'Kirkum's Auto" , suggested that he get a new one.......He bought the Motor in a '86 Cutlass on E-Bay from New Jersey for something like $2200.00 The motor has the eddy alum heads and a Demon Carb......The plus side is that the car has a Currie 9" rear end in it..So I say he stole the car....

Damn he did steal that car.

If I remember correctly when I was considering a 455 for my car I couldnt find sh*t in the way of bottom end performance stuff on summit... Part of the reason I decided to just go Chevy.

Stock factory pieces hold up fine for anything up to 500 or HP.

The only aftermarket crank that I know of off hand is from Eagle I believe. It's a fairly new offering it goes for $600+.

It's a lot cheaper to just find another stock crank.

*Edit* I was wrong. The Eagle crank with stock stroke is around $500. Or you can get one with 4.500" stroke for $550.

They have a lot of stuff listed. They also have stock cranks listed as well.

Here's a few vendors to look at (in no particular order):

BTR Performance
Rocket Racing
MJ Proformance

All good guys to deal with.
