olds v8 firing order

what i have is 18436572 in clockwise roation its been a while but it looks alike a sbc firing order. on # top dead center where should the rotor point?

The firing order you have is right, the rotation is counter clockwise. The rotor can be anywhere as long as you follow the firing order.

thats what i thought thank you. i have been slinging parts so long i forgot how to sling wrenches. its coming back though

And a Pontiac firing order. And a Buick firing order.

This is a pretty common firing order for a V8. It also alternately uses cylinders fed from opposite sides of the carb, a useful feature with a dual plane intake. One side of the carb feeds 1, 4, 6, and 7. The other side feeds 2, 3, 5, and 8. Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

As noted, the Olds distributor rotation is CCW.

its alive but full of dead gas. but its coming out and making room for a fuel injected smallblock and overdrive. anyone have a rat tod project they want a motor for cheap?
