Series 3 carrier or thicker gears or spacer are required to put 3.23 gears in. I have done both and either works fine.

Not to hi jack, but there is no way to put higher than a 3.08 gear in a 2 series carrier? Jegs shows rear ring and pinion sets with 3.73 ratio and it specifically asks for you to choose higher than a 3.08 currently or lower than a 3.08 currently? Is it possible the after market gear sets are made to get a 3.73 to work in a 2 series carrier?

Yes there are aftermarket gear sets that are made with a thicker ring gear specificaly for use with 2 series carriers. Sorry I forgot about that as I normally use used original parts.

Mr Gasket also makes a spacer. Allows used 3 series gears to fit a 2 series carrier.

Yes I forgot about that one too. 😳

Awesome, that's good to know. Is there anything else I need to know before choosing gears? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rmg-sgm7503 They seem like they would do the trick to me, I don't know about spline or the teeth I need or anything. Or am i better off getting the spacer and a used set? I'm just not sure I'd be able to find a used set, or if it would save me that much money. I'm probably going to be getting a shift kit in the same shot.

and I know for the shift kit, I'm going to but new gaskets and a filter etc, I know I should do the same for my rear gasket, but other than that, anything I should throw on my rear while its opened? thanks so much everyone.
