Iv been working alittle today on trying to get rid of all the rust on my T Top Monte and it is just over welming. There are so many little panels that are hard to get into that no matter how much i get rid of there is still alot of rust in spots i cant get to. So i was thinking of just cutting off roof section and making it a full time convertible. I even came up with an idea to make a cover like the conv corvettes out of fiberglass. I dont drive my car in the rain now as it is because it leaks so much. So what do you think?

Sounds killer. A Monte roadster would be awesome. Due to the size of the car, I'd try to keep it a 4 seater with a flowthru console.

Be sure to reinforce the body before you remove the top so it retains its shape.

Targa top is also an idea, since it's already a T-top.

have you thought about making it into a working convertable with top? Ive seen them before, but everyone always seems to get rid of the quarter windows. If you could keep them or even somhow make them roll down(good luck) it would be sweet.

Of course I dont know how skilled you are, or how much money you have to throw around, but figured Id throw it out there.

As for a funtcional top it is possible, there is a forum on layitlow.com on which top works but its a pain in the *ss from what i seen. I was going towards a roadster style and even cutting down the windshield to make it more proportioned. But im still wieghing out my options cause once i do it there is no going back and i dont wand to regret it and end up with a topless heap of metal.

I have seen a few riding around here, and frankly, the body lines do not lend themselves to this sort of thing. It just does not look right.

I second that.. I seen an 81 Malibu and it did not look right, but hey. It's your car, do as you want...
