I have been looking around and reading up on serpentine setups but I was looking for something a little simpler. I found this one thread over on the hotrodders forum. Look at the pics posted by username "coldknock" and let me know what you think. Seems to be much simpler to setup and still has the efficiency of a serpentine setup without having to find specific vehicle models, reverse water pump, or power steering issues.

I thought the crank pulley was a double serpentine and the PS used a serp belt just like the alternator. Then what benefit is there by using this setup? Sounds like the same as running a double v belt except one belt is wider.

you're right thats the only benefit

the only benny of cold knocks system is you wont throw the alt belt . Ive used that type of system on a few budget drag cars and thats what the street stock stock car guys around me use , they have very strick rules about using stock components .The wide belt is more forgiving . GM 4.3 cars used this setup along with the trucks when they went to injection in 87. In 88 everything went to a tru serp belt except for the left over 87 body style trucks like cab -chassis blazers and suburbans untill 92ish .
