Paint Question for an 86 GN

Buying an 86 GN...question is this, could the original paint from the factory have had a metallic tint to it because paint guns were not cleaned properly?

Paint code in 86 for the GN is 19, solid black....but I did find this.."Folklore says that the "flaky paint" was the result of contamination at Fisher Body.."
