Paint Suggestions

Hi everyone. I just bought a cutlass that needs a new paint job. The body is solid and straight with minimal rust. I'm going to have everything taken care of before paint. It's gold right now with a tan top and tan interior. I HATE the color that's on it now lol. The only thing I like about it is it has a "goldsmobile" emblem on it. The top is brand new and the interior is in great shape.

What colors do you think would work well with that top and interior color? I was looking at root beer pearl and some other pearl brown colors. If I see a good paint job I'm willing to paint or change the top so it's mostly something that will work with that interior color. Picking a color is way harder than I thought. Pics would be great too. Thanks.

Black, you can alwas dye the vinyl top too to help broaden the spectrum...

This is a nice brown color. Different, but nice. I saw it a few weeks back in the sun at the car lot and loved it.

The Oldsmobile color chip brochures recommended exterior/interior combinations when factory-ordering a car; looking at a 1986 brochure, I'd say a tan interior most closely resembles Saddle, and the exterior colors recommended for a Saddle interior are ...
- White
- Black
- Light Chestnut Metallic
- Dark Chestnut Metallic
- Carmine Red (for Firenzas)
- Yellow Beige

... so there's a starting point for 'other colors'

For my taste, I think white would look pretty striking with the tan top

I think black would be a perfect fit. I recently bought a 85 cutlass that I'm painting black. You can always 2 toNE it

My Monte is black and I removed the light gray interior and installed camel color interior which is close to tan.
My car started as a CL so it came with a black half vinyl which I removed since it looked out of place for my plans I had for the car.

Tahitian Torqouise if you like teals. This is not my car. I like 65 Malibu's so I saved the pictures lol
