The paint was peeling on my mdified AC box cover,so I sanded it down and painted it glossy black.Now I'm thinking that I should paint the rest of the firewall to match it,heres a couple of pics,looking for your input;

Those valve covers are sweeet!! I did my fire wall a gloss black and loved it. I wanted a satin but went off the can top(Someone had swapped tops) When it dried up, I was like awwwwww! But then I liked it. Man you gotta tape everything up. I mean really good. Paint mist will find a way to any and everything you dont want painted. I took the brake booster and window wiper motor out so I could get a nice spray. I used some rustolium high temp engin block paint. Came out decent for a home job...

Thanks Bumpin1,I like those valve covers too,its almost time to get them off for a polish.I was gonna use brush on paint,then I wouldnt have to worry about overspray.Do you have any pictures of your firewall ???

ill take a picture today if i can of mine , black gloss rustoleum works great

to begin...i purchased a 1981 malibu 2door with a semi up.graded 350 engine and a th350 trans as my first car. I am a bit of a perfectionist and lots of ppl see it as a bad thing...but i must give bumpin1ohm much props n thaks to make me realice n inspire me that there is nothing wrong with it and it all pays off!!...not to brag or show off but for one self to feel proud of a well done homemade job..so thank you Elco Warren if i dnt mistake ur nick.name from ur YouTube videos....

i did recently did do my msd full kit upgrade and took advantage of the firewall clearance without my distributor and re.did my firewall. i personally dnt like gloss..but i tried it and didnt like it...so i went with a flat black color...and now i personally love it. I sprayed a undercoating texture that dries into a satin black. The undercoating if sprayed at a right distance and not too much of a over spray leaves a nice professional looking textured surface dat also helps against rust...i will post up some pics soon for u guys to see wat i am talkin about and also the brand of undercoating i used.

@ amldivine---THANKS!! I really appreciate that bruh...Im really kicking myself for taking all the vids down. I didnt realize so many peeps actually watched and benefited from them.. 🙁

I wanted a satin black again like the first pic, but the shiny grew on me.

I still havent decided which to use,glossy,semi glossy or flat.But it wont be flat,so maybe semi gloss.All I'm going to do is the firewall,at least for now.And I will be doing it with the motor in place,so spray paint is out.
If I ever have the budget for a new paint job,the motor will be getting pulled,and I will do a real nice job,and have the whole engine compartment painted at the same time.
