I was going to buy the Taylor Cable brand distributor for the Olds so I called them up and they were very straight forward and honest that this is an overseas part.

I don't have a problem with that.........

But I don't want to spend a $150+ on a distributor that I can get off ebay for 50 buxx shipped. with the only difference being the box it comes in.

MSD is WAY to overpriced and they do not make an HEI version.

So what to do???

Get the Taylor??

Or spend a little more on one of the other brands???

Or just get the ebay Nukeasaki ding dong one?

Also would like to buy it today since ebay has a $25 off coupon up till 11pm today only

Thanks

I bought a D.U.I. straight from them, curved specifically for my setup. I haven't gotten my car running yet but I don't regret the purchase. I wouldn't want the aggravation associated with the car not running right over a cheap distributor. My time is worth something and this is supposed to be a fun hobby. Cheap parts don't make it fun for me.

We used DUI on our circle track cars that had to keep a stock equivalent distributor. The engine was chipped at 6300 rpm and the DUI never lost a beat. We told them it was going in a Crate 602 (vortec 350) and the rpms we ran it at and they set it up for the engine. Many of the teams ran the DUI and I never heard of any issues with it. The stock distributor can get erratic over 5800 rpm

DUI comes with a iron gear would have to change that to work with the factory roller cam

and I think you are mistaken about the ding dongs, they are made by hostess and would melt in the engine bay.....😛

I'm sure DUI has an option for a melonized gear..

from the DUI website

Description
Optional Gear Choices
Bronze gears are available for certain roller cam applications. Check your cam card or with the cam manufacturer for compatibility. If the distributor you are ordering requires the bronze gear, please add the appropriate part number to your order.

The Melonized gear is compatible with the factory roller cams that are installed in the GM Performance Crate engines. This gear is included on the DUI’s we sell specifically for the crate engines. This gear may also be necessary with some aftermarket cams for the Chevrolet V8’s.

The Steel gear is compatible with the factory roller and several aftermarket roller cams for Ford 5.0 and 5.8 liter engines. This gear is included with part number 38820 (302 w/ factory roller cam).

The Composite gear fits the Chevrolet Street/Strip and Racing DUI and is compatible with any camshaft.

Yep Just called DUI they said the gear will work with a factory GM roller cam since GM didn't use the steel gears only Ford did
