Hi. I've got an 83 monte. I'm looking at getting some 255/70/15 tires. I'm looking for a picture of a g-body with a 2 inch (or MORE) drop, with 255/70/15 (or taller) tires. I've got a 2.5" drop right now front and 2" rear. So just tryin to get an idea of what itll look like. preferably on steelies. but whatever. if youve got pics that'd be awesome.

not a chance that would work... a 255/70/15, you're lookin at 30.5" tall tire.
even with stock ride hight, 30" would be tight. If you look up Shotgun, he uses 30" slicks on his drag Cutlass... it fit's but it's tight

here is a picture of my 275/60s which are 28" tall

with a 2" drop, you'd be lucky to fit 28" tall tires without trouble. I would suggest looking at 255/60s or 255/50s
or if you want a meaty look, they make a 275/50 which I believe is 27" tall

I'm wanting 255's so I can tuck them *inside* the wheel wells. rather than just under them like yours are. I want them to be up in the wells.

edit: just realized I posted this in the wrong forum?

Are you thinking 255 is the height?....255 is the width of the tire, the 70 is the height, 70% of the width....

yes? im not sure what youre trying to express.

it sounded like you wanted the 255 thinking they are taller tires. The width does affect the height of the tire but only marginally.

I think "othtim" is wanting the 255 so that it doesn't extend out underneath the lip of the wheel well there  The 275 is wide enough to sit directly under that lip. Then you have to Joe Dirt your car to get it to not rub

ritter is correct

it looked to me he was talking about finding a tire tall enough to sit up in the well.....

yes, hence the 255/70. large sidewall, but not too wide
