picked up a 442 parts car today...

Looks like it was stamped like you said.
Interesting. Your carb was built the day after the one in the pic I posted above. Mine was June 5, and yours is June 6, 1984.

Here's an 84 H/O carb for reference built on Jan 3, 1984. It's an HXU code where the 85 442 carb got restamped over to JCY. These codes were used for assembly line use in general- however, the NOS carbs I have show the code as well:

Here's an NOS carb stamping. Date coded 0062. Thus, it was produced Jan 6, 1992 I presume. Doubt it was 2002. But note it didn't need a stamp over for the application year.

thats pretty cool.. so am i to assume the 442 carb is tuned different then the stock 4bbl on my cutlass supreme?
Somewhat. Slightly different, and there's no stop on the secondary flappers like on the Y engines. They'll go wide open. Different secondary rods. But also an electric solenoid for the A/C idle kick up. Which IMO is easier than that ILC thing the Y engines use. 442 carbs are 800 cfm units, but I do not know about Y engines as I haven't messed with any of those.
