Does anyone have an up close picture of the header panel? I was looking at the possibility of putting an 81 grill in my 80 due to availability but I noticed last night that the 80 has a point in the middle of the grill that protrudes forward. I do not remember this point on the 78 and 79 I had and I think the 81 is straight across as well.

If you have the OPGI catalog, they show all the grilles. I was just looking through the new G-body one last night.
I put a '81 grill on my '80 station wagon because I had a good used one on hand and like the look of the 81 better. But I had to replace the headlight bezels too. I don't remember if there was overlap or too big of a gap, but plan on doing the bezels, too.
Looks like I was wrong, but partially. Looks like 78-79 used 1 header panel and 80-81 use the other. So the 81 grille has the same point. But OPGI has a grille and bezel kit for $125 right now, granted the bezels are on back order. How can I go wrong for $125?? I have always liked the 81 grille better than the 80 as well.
I had a 80-81 header panel on my 79 Malibu with an 81 grille. I also changed the to the 81 taillights. A change to the Monte SS steering wheel will work.
I'm also using the '81 header panel on my '79 wagon. I kinda favored the '81 grille over the other types.
You absolutely must use the '80 headlamp doors with the '80 grille and vice versa with the '81 grille and HL doors.

GM shows the same part number for 80-81 header panel, (different for 78-79) but says for '81, "IT MAY BE NEC TO DRILL HOLES FOR MTG. GRILLE ON SOME MODELS"
