Playing with wood!!!

That's my plan for the areas I can access. 3/4 of our basement is finished with drywall ceiling so I have to fix those from the topside.

I'm not sure about the laws in your state but here in Ontario if a basement has been finished and no permit was issued for the conversion then the new owner can apply to their title insurance to have the basement redone to insure it complies with the building codes. The squeaking floor fix could be thrown as a thank you buy the contractors for choosing them. I know some contractors who look at homes for sale to check on the basement and then head to check the permits issues for that house. If there was no permit they buy the house and are on the phone with the title insurance company and then they get one of their buddies to redo the basement.....

growing up in century old home it was a common problem. My Mom lived with the squeaks I think so there was no sneaking in or out due to squeaky floors 🙂 Blocking helped in our house but never really got rid of it. I dont think when they built the house they had any idea of the weight with modern convenience in mind. My childhood home was a weird 2x6 or 2x7 rough cut on 12" spacing over 12'-14' width. Pretty sure Ray Charles laid the joists out the spacing was soooo bad!
It was orig lathe and plaster but pulled most of it out to get rid of the Knob and tube wiring. I recall watching TB in the basement and watching the floors flex when my parents had friends over. When I saw Gilbert Grape movie I was like " yup just like home !" LOL

btw the "special" Robertson bit is what we use N of the border. I find it hard to get philips head screws with a shoulder on them for my sideline crating biz. Every time I am in Buffalo I grab a box of them from HD so the customers can get their stuff back out of the crates when I ship them south.

Scott,
I'd be interested to know how it works out. Good luck!

Jack, so far so good. I finished our girls room last night, and the floors are quiet now! I still have plenty more squeaks to address though....the kit came with 50 screws, and I bought another 50 just in case. The fun part will be finding the joists with my garbage stud finder.

Assembled in the USA?!?!?!?!?!?

Whats to assemble???

They put it in the package!??!?!?!?!!?!?!?

I put a rear floor tub in a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica yesterday, label said "Assembled in Canada from imported parts". It is literally 2 pieces of sheet steel stamped together and spot welded, with 6 studs on the bottom to hold a heat shield. What, they import the tub from one place and the studs from another?
