If I can get my stupid phone to load the finished product pic you can see how well it turns out. Note, the stuff we use is NOT UV sensitive and will NOT fade if exposed to sunlight!

Looks good! As I said before, I'm using an air needle scaler to knock the rust and scale down. It works great, but it's very noisy and it takes a toll on your hands. It does great at getting into all the tight spots an angle grinder could never reach.

My frame has some holes in it that have to be plated & welded up before I paint, so Ive got some time to research into the acid metal prep while that's being done.

PS- I did buy a quart of the POR15 brand solvent as I've had some bad reactions with paints myself.

Hope you have some earmuffs....them needle scalers are definitely noisy as hell! Like 565bbchevy said, go to harbor freight and pick up a pack of chip brushes, toss them after one use. If you have any paint leftover, put the lid on and put in a good sealed ziplock bag and put it in the fridge. I know it sounds crazy but it works!

Before you spend the money on POR15 check out KBS coatings. Very similiar for less money. I used the silver chassis paint for the frame of my aerocoupe. The have black also same type of deal with POR15, clean it real good, make sure it's dry and shoot it. I sprayed mine on and it seems to dry with a ceramic looking and feeling finish. No base coat or clear coat needed. It is NOT UV stable like POR15 so keep that in mind.

Yeah it's definitely very loud, I'm sure my neighbors love it 😀. Oh well, I'm definitely not going to be "neighbor of the year" anyway. Thick leather gloves definitely help too, that thing will rattle fillings right out of your teeth. I already use those HF chip brushes and I never clean out brushes, regardless of how good they are. My time is worth more than a $8 brush. As for pouring the paint, I usually poke a hole in the lid with an awl and then pour from the hole into a disposable paint cup and run a screw down through the hole when I'm finished to seal it- there's a quick tip for you.

wear gloves! the screw tip above is a good idea! i put plastic over a open can then out the lid on, yeah throw away the brushes, they get sh*tted up after using them a while anyways.
anybody spray it? i never had the nerve
been using it a long time

That's what I meant about putting a bag over the can but typed it wrong, hit reply then saw it after lol! I've only sprayed the aerosol version of it. Very finicky as it will run quick...it lays down like ceramic brake paint which makes it easy to see what spots have more or less paint. My bodyguy sprayed a chassis of a Willys jeep but used the POR15 reducer and it turned out great!
I used the aerosol on my HVAC delete plate and rear end, as well as tough to reach places that can't be seen but needed protection.

It looks kinda bumpy in the pic because it wasn't cured yet, but is super smooth. I have a pic of the rear end before and after in my build thread.
