Hey guys I am looking into getting an Eaton posi unit for my 1987 Cutlass 442. The rear end in there is factory so I am told its a 8.5 in. I see there is 28 spline, and 30 spline carriers available. which one do I need for my car? And any thing else I should get to do the job right. I want to use the existing 3.73 gear and existing axles.

Good choice... I work for Eaton.

If you want to re-use your stock axles, than you'll want the 28-spline carrier.

Now's the time to freshen up things like bearings and seals while you have it all apart.
