looking for any information on what I need to put power steering back in my 1986 buick regal. Any information would be greatly appreciated. thanks

What motor? Depending on that, you will need the PS pump and brackets for your particular motor, the belt, the hoses, and a PS box with the Pitman arm for a G-body. Stick to the 800 series box with the 4 bolt top cover as they are plentiful and reliable. If you get a junkyard box, be sure to grab the 3 long frame mounting bolts.

its a sbc 406

I'm not a Chevy guy but I'm sure others will comment. I think getting the pump and brackets for the motor will be the biggest challenge.

I can't think of anything else. Just be sure to get the G-body Pitman arm, as the geometry is different than most other cars. If you have manual steering now, the Pitman arm is correct only for the manual box and the 600 series crummy power box (snap ring cover). The 800 series Pitman shaft is slightly thicker so it needs the right one. Rebuilt steering boxes are not super expensive, but the Pitman arm is not a "wear" item and hard to buy new. Junk yard or Ebay. I guess if you wanted you could use a rebuilt 600 series box with your current manual Pitman arm, but they have a bad reputation for leaking.
