what is the Power steering pressure switch used for? when i got my Grand Prix the switch had a piece of wire jumping the two pins. I plugged the switch up and did not notice any differences in steering. Also i am going to replace the pressure line because it is leaking where the hose ends are crimped on, is there any way to get a firmer turning steering wheel?

If I'm not mistaken the switch is used to bump up the idle speed so the car doesnt stall when the wheel is turned all the way like when parallel parking in a tight spot, it wont have any effect on how the steering feels. If your after a firmer or sportier feel to the steering you will need to get a steering box from a Monte SS, Hurst olds/ 442 , GN or a t type. I have also used boxes from 3rd gen f bodys but it must be a Z28 or TA the draw back to the f body box is you will lose some of your turning radius (it wont turn in as tight of a circle). If you need a box I have several Monte SS boxes in my inventory.

you won't get a firmer feel out of any other g body steering boxes. The Z box out of an F body will give you a firmer feel but the stops will give you a larger turning radius. You can change the stops in it but the larger turning radius doesn't bother me
