I know this thread is 5 years old, but how do you remove the window sill chrome? I'm trying to figure this out without taking too much apart. I'd at least like to have an idea as to what I am doing before I do it.

Remove the door panel, then Remove the glass, now you'll be able to access the Phillips screws that hold it to the door. Great time to lubricate stuff and replace broken door panel clips to tighten things up.

I did it without removing the glass. It's a bit of a pain but it can be done. Takes patience and one of those little angle screwdrivers. IIRC I even had to use a small driver bit in a visegrips.

if you try removing the glass without removing the window sweep you have a good chance of tearing the sweep. I removed the sweep like GP403's method until a buddy asked me what the F I was doing, since then I do it like tc1959 suggested

I know this is an old thread but wanted to give kudos to Gp403 for the excellent write up. This is one of those things that doesn't look too complicated after you see the solution but would have had a few pitfalls if going at it without any info. Thx GP403! Anywho, I'll be swapping out my driver side motor one of these weekends once I get motivated. Ha!

I'm going to ask this question in this thread as I think it pertains to troubleshooting whether motor replacement is required

Anyone know the normal/optimum time it should take for a power window to go up or down?

My power windows seem to operate very slowly but that is my opinion & as compared to my 2004 truck; I want to be certain there is a problem before I start digging through the doors

If you just want to remove the sill piece, you can loosen the lower glass stop on the door and lower the window another 1/2" or so for access. Don;t forget to mark the bolt so you can return the stop to it's original position.

I bought the Chinese made one from Rock Auto & I thought it was going to suck but it is actually pretty good. Much faster than any other window motor that I've seen in a gbody.
