What a way to learn how to work on cars!
Yeah he's really getting an in depth start for sure. He brags because of all his friends he's the only one that can do it. Have to keep the hobby alive.

parenting done right!

Okay so little more work done to my boys engine. Since he has to have it done for the Gbody classic next month it's been pretty much all hands on deck to get it finished. Still waiting on some bolts for the manifolds but mostly have all the parts to get it done. Speaking of the manifolds they are the Thorton true dual manifolds and they are super nice, better than I expected. So enough of me blabbering here are some pictures

All the bolts are stainless ARP bolts from alloyboltz.com. worked out really well since the majority of the originals were trashed. Have to get .030 shorter pushrods since I had the heads milled and I think that's the last thing on the list really. Next update should be more on the car itself to get it ready to drop the engine in. More to come

What all the specs on this 260? Colour me interested👍

Pretty basic really, stock bore and stroke, luckily the bore was good enough to not have to overbore the block not that it wouldn't have been a bad thing. ARP head bolts as well as full ARP bolt kit, High volume oil pump, high volume aluminum water pump, Edelbrock SP2P 4 barrel intake, Edelbrock 500 CFM carb, Cam is a Melling grind with .474 lift intake and exhaust, duration 232 @ .050 on a 113 lobe separation angle. Double roller timing chain, STOCK valve springs (im sure those will be just fine... nope) Also the heads have been milled .030 to raise the complete crap stock compression. Cant forget the Thornton dual exhaust manifolds also. So it should be a peppy little engine that sounds like it has some balls but overall it will be just enough for a teen that he can show off his lumpy idle all he wants but he wont be trying to blow away any honda civics either. But i've been surprised before so it might actually make some power.

Holy sh*t, a W31 cam in a 260! Your vacuum will be the sh*ts, it wasn't enough on the 350! You gained 5cc on the heads, so what around 8.5 to 1 now? What is the factory piston dish?

That is wayyyy overcammed for the displacement and compression. Hell, even with 11:1 compression, it might run on 87 octane without preignition/detonation.
Sure is pretty though

Oh its overcammed for sure, but knowingly so. We were more messing around with it to see what it would do and if it would surprise us or not. I have a secondary camshaft that i can swap in, so wont be stuck there. That cam will go in another engine of mine if thats the case.

Flat top pistons so yeah probably 8.5 to 1 or somewhere in there, about the best i was going to get without some domed pistons and i just wasnt going to do that for a play engine.
