I thought i would start a thread on my swap just cause mabey it will help others.

Car- 1980 Monte Carlo 3.8

Swap- Chevy 383 ( i know everyone has one... but whats one more?)

I have the 383 all built and ready to put in and it looks awsome. Also going in is a TH350 with a manual valve body, 3500 stahl converter and 3.73 gears with 275/60/15 MT ET Streets.

Today was the start of the tear down and we pulled out the motor and Air box with all the AC and heater stuff.

You can ask any questions you want all ill be happy to awnser, or even any advice would be great, but everything has been smooth so far!

Looks good, I like the style of the valve covers. Do you have the car on Grosse Ile? I passed a blue Monte Carlo just like yours down in the industrial park by the airport in the past few months, wondered if it was yours.

Did you find any takers on the the 229 yet?

Looks to be a nice drag car. Building for any particular class or just consistency? I like the name.

Looks good so far. 383 looks awesome. Love those valve covers.Keep us up to date with more pictures of your progress. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for all the replies guys!! Its been really fun so far.

jerrycad, that was probly me you saw, becasue i have a friend that lives on rucker.

I did sell the 229, he is comming to get it next weekend.

As for the purpose of the car, i am building mainly as a fun car, i do plan on taking it to the track, but no serious racing.

anywho...

All went very well today. If i can get a steering box by tomorrow(putting in manual steering), i will probly be putting the motor in place tomorrow. As you can see in the pictures i made a panel for the a/c,heater box hole and degreased, cleaned and grinded the frame and what not and painted the engine bay and frame( the paint on the panel looks alot better, it was wet when i took the photo). im gettign started on the interior wiring too and placing the gauges but i dont have a picture of that yet. Thats about all i did today, but it took all day!

sorry for the blurry pictures, my cammera is on the fritz.
