Everyone has a story it seems attached to prototype Items that escaped from GM at one point in time or another. I never get bored with it, love the items, love the stories, MOST are from X employees/ engineers who actually worked on the projects and were instructed to destroy all and any prototypes that were not used, yet saved a few pieces of history they worked on. Back in the EARLY 80's when Buick was trying to design a intake plenum badge for the Infamous Buick Grand Nationals, ONE prototype set was saved!...Its very odd because the set of prototype intake plenum emblems that this engineer saved, were never used EVER, yet the production emblem made were only found on the 84/85 Turbo regal/GN and on the FWD 85-87 3.8 FWD "H" body. The production Emblems that were placed on the engines in production on the assembly lines, the Buick engineer remembered when these cars rolled down the assembly line and the workers were so intrigued by the new emblem on the plenum they were popping them off and keeping them. Once management got word of this, they put a box of them by the time clock near the door so employees could help themselves! True story! Pic below of the prototype Emblems I acquired. Post up your stories and prototype items!!! Love to see them!
