My ps pump is on it way out and I like the type II pump but I can't find any info on installing it in the serpentine system. Have any of you installed the type II pump on a serpentine system or have any info that could help......thanks...

I can't offer any help but I am also looking into this. Im on my 2nd pump this year and its leaking quite a bit. With my hydroboost setup I wonder if it's even recommended.

What type of serpentine setup are you running? I know alot of the aftermarket kits can be had with a type II pump.

It's the common one found on the camaros and trucks. I want to see if it can be installed without the need to change the current set up.

I don't think there is a type 2 pump that will work with that bracket.

The issue with converting from a type 1 to a type 2 is the speed. The type 2 needs a lot less rpm's to accomplish the same volume and pressure as the type 1. I'm running a type 2, from the boneyard, with a v-belt racing pulley (small) on a 1:1 6" crank to water pump pulley ratio. It works pretty well with the p/s pump and keeps the volts/amps in check as long as it doesn't idle below 850. But I spent more on the pulley than the pump, reservoir, and mounting bracket (Allstar Perf). And assuming the mounting bracket and pulley will last a lifetime, I'm onto cheap replacement parts - the giddyup has made it almost 10K with no issues.

We did run the type 2 with a serp belt using a pulley from a 78-79 Elco that had a combination serp and V-belt water pump pulley. It worked well, but I had only one belt driving the water pump and the water pump drove the p/s pump - I didn't like thatssetup. I still have the pulley (somewhere) and photos of the setup that I can attach if I can find them.

Regarding your setup, why don't you drop the $20 on a rebuild kit for your pump. I've rebuilt several with no issues.

Thanks for the info .....I couldn't find a rebuild kit for the type 1 pump and I had to call around to find a pump. I need to get the pump changed so I didn't have time to have any time for a plan B. It's great living north of the border....🙁
