you have probably seen it....the trunk isn't slammed shut, you just put it down to engage the latch and then the latch pulls it closed.

You can set the trunk lid down softly as opposed to slaming it to latch it. Then the motor pulls it down to close it. My 83 Firebird actually had this too.

Ohhh OK, I know now. That sounds like it would be a pretty cool upgrade.
