I would check it out drive the GN setup if you can...I took the garbage v6/3spd outta my cutlass and swapped in 350chevy/700r4. I had toyed with the idea of GN setup but I drove my buddy's GN and I dunno but the turbo is just something I can't get used to. Mine is a cruiser too and I know GN setup will get better mpg. I love my 350 chevy over it all.
Ive driven a GN before and am aware of the feeling. This wont be my last gbody build so there will be plenty of time for a 350.

I would say go for it, would make for a good working car. If you do get the wagon the first place I would go is gnttype.org and go through the spring cleaning list. Make sure it is in good running condition before you do the swap. If you plan on beating on the car with pump gas then get yourself an Alky kit, pistons and a total rebuild for an LC2 are not cheap.
As stated above there is a few GN powered Malibu's out there. You could find some info on the swap at turbobuick.com or turbobuicks.com.
I would say its an unusual opportunity. Get a scantool so that you are not flying blind or leave the boost controlled by a street chip ie no more than 17psi and pump premium and you will have no trouble with head gaskets. Get power greedy and the car in general can be finicky. Stockish and maintained they can be very durable. Back in 1988 box stock mine ran a string of 13.90s at 99 mph the first time I had ever been to a drag strip. Gets 22 mpg hwy.

Thanks for the support. Its looking like i will be getting this car and i definitely will be hitting up sum of those Turbo buick forums to get sum more experience with these engines. Friday morning is the viewing so i keeping my fingers crossed that everything checks out so i get can this thing rolling. (Gotta start thing of a name for this project, Im thinking SixPack)
A scanmaster or powerlogger is a must. I would also look into getting a Turbo Tweak chip. Like doshit wrote don't get greedy with the boost and you shouldn't have any problems. In stock form these engines work very well. I went 14 flat @ 100 mph with a hotwire kit, Walbro pump, KN filter and a chip. I like to call my engine the little engine that could 😀
"Project Six Pack" I like the name of it.
Had a buddy with a non intercooled 84 project. He was going to get a plate "uncool" I have an older neighbor retired GM that bought a GN brand new. Loved the car and did the routine maintenance but kept it stock. When GM left for Mexico he didn't have money to do nothing. I couldn't even get him to change the timeing chain and valvesprings! Anyway he sold it with 170,000+ miles and it had never been apart. Motor or transmission. But talk about a noisy rattly valvetrain.
