When I set up my quadrajet I grabbed one of my choke coils to install in place of the heat riser choke. The choke worked the first few days and then stopped. I got around t looking at it today and no matter how far I rotated the coil the choke would not go on. I removed the coil and found that where the pin for the choke mechanism slid through a cut out on the coil spring. I can't find any like it online so I'm wondering if any of you has seen this and why it has a cut out. I replaced it with another coil that has no cut out on it.

That's a new one on me Steve. I'm interested to know what that is for.

The cut out looks good with the naked eye and appears to be from the factory but I took a good long look at it with my magnifying glass and someone has made that cut out. I cannot figure out why though. I tried the coil in the carb I took off recently, that carb has a rubber sleeve on the pin so this coil would work on that carb cause ti can't slide through the cut out....

Never seen that myself either.
