Very well done, Ed. No details spared.

NICE! See? NO reason to be afraid of opening up one of these great carbs. I especially liked the APT adjustment procedure. Steve, remember what I said about punching out the aluminum plug that is located right above the APT screw? He used a threaded pipe plug in it's place for easy access. I need to try the lithium grease gasket trick, makes a lot of sense. Yeah, this old goat is still learning too!

I use grease on other gaskets but I never thought to put some on the gasket for the carb....by the way where is Ed?

I used Chapstick on my carb gaskets. It was recommended to me from a friend.
I'd like to build my own Quadrajet, but have to find a decent core.

yes I do remember you suggesting to punch out the aluminum plug. I don't have to on mine cause the guy who built this carb already did that.

great info! getting ready to rebuild one as well, so this was just in time! Thanks for making them Ed, and GP for posting them up!

Are the metering rods, jets, etc, readily available? After finding a decent core, I think the first thing I'd do, aside from disassembling the carb, would be to re-bush the body where the throttle shaft rides. I guess it's a common problem on these carbs. Have any of you guys re-bushed your own carbs?
