So I have been looking though here about gear ratios to see whats in my wagon. 1978 3.3l v6 auto. I turned the wheel one full turn and the drive shaft turned 1.5 turns! cant be right. Although Im sure its got 2.14:1 gears in it I just cant figure out why it only turned 1.5 times.

Thanks Dane

When you spin the wheel make sure your other will is not turning or it can throw off your count on the driveshaft.

its not turning I was holding it with my feet so it wouldnt.

Both wheels need to be turning at the same rate. Do not hold one wheel. If you do, the spider gears will cause one wheel to spin at a different rate as when spinning both together. Try it again spinning both wheels and your number will come out right.

2.14? you sure? i had a 2.41 in my elky that i ripped out. boy am i glad thats gone.

I'm going buy the fact that you can turn one wheel and have the other turn in the opposite direction instead of turning the diveshaft. This is the case with an open dif anyway. If one wheel is not able to turn, every bit of motion of the wheel that is turning gets transmitted to the drive shaft.
