quick 6x9 question

For the speaker guys out there, Alpine 6x9 Speaker SPS-6939 3 Way 120 Watt 30 Watt RMS IMP 4 ohms. <===are those good speakers ? i'm looking from an upgrade from the 4x10s, and yes i have the adapters 😀 Thanks for any replies

I guess it depends on what your paying for them. If your getting them cheap go for it, alpine's are pretty durable, but if you've gotta spend more then on ebay for um, maybe find some eclipse's. Eclipse are probably (in my opinion) some of the nicest sounding 6x9's made and decent on price as well

Alpine is a good brand. not horrible. they would definatly be an upgrade

Depends what kind of music you listen to. My last car I had an all alpine system, I spent about $1,500 on it. I usually listen to death metal, rock and heavy metal. Alpine sucks for that kind of music. They are only good for rap, classical and probably other types of music. Just my opinion.

Anything is better than the 4x10s. My Bonneville has old Pioneers from the mid '80s, and they were just mounted to the 4x10 holes with no adapters. There's actually about an inch between the 6x9 and the rear dash. But...

With only a 47 watt CD player and those 20+ year old 6x9s. I still get people thinking that I have an 8" or 10" sub in the trunk.

pokertramp, i listen to a lot of metal and also hardcore too, have you found a good brand of speaker for our type? they would be $39 shipped to my door, still undecided, ill just keep looking for deals on ebay.

also, has anyone heard anything about the reconditioned sony Xplod speakers on ebay? buy it now $26 good deal?

Do not get anything Sony!!!! Period. Since your probably wondering. I've got a degree in mobile electronics and use to install car stereos for a living. That is why I recommend Eclipse, not because I have them in my car, but because there some of the best.

I agree with Midwestls. I have some eclipse speakers in my car and they put out great sound, and they're only 4x10s. 6x9s would be that much better I'm sure.

Where do you find the adapter plate?
